In case you missed the word on the street, we have commenced an "Artist Spotlight" corner for our blog. So check back here on the first Monday of every month to get inspiration from talented souls around the globe.
And without further ado, today's spotlight: Alisha Eich.
Our friend Alisha is a ridiculously talented singer. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I could sit and listen to her for hours.
In fact, she sang at our wedding, which was the Hugest of gifts. I will ever be grateful for this!
In her own words:
Songwriting & Me
Sitting down in my office, journal out, pen ready to go, with my piano keys in front of me is a place that feels like home. It's where the thoughts of lessons I've learned, stories and pictures seem to flow out of me in a way that seems...easy. Sometimes I'll write out a page of ideas that are not cohesive at all, random and sometimes unusable and out of a days work there'll be a small gem that I can use another time for inspiration. Patience is a virtue needed creating music, this I've learned. Sometimes I will get nothing for a day, a month, a year. Sometimes i'll sit down and an entire song, words and melody, pour out of me. I read it back and wonder where it came from. It's almost surreal. Those are the special times.
About six years ago, in 2008, I dedicated one day a week to my music. Discipline produces good fruit. I locked myself away in my brother Tim's basement and disciplined myself to create. I taught myself how to record simple tracks, edit, mix and messed around with all of Tim's exciting equipment and instruments until I created my very first recorded project in 2009 called 'Always With You.' These songs were very precious to me and I was proud to have been able to finally share my music with others. After promoting the EP, building connections and sharing those songs locally I then released a single called 'Stones' in 2011. This was also an amazing experience as I was able to record in studio (IAM Studios in Brantford) with a band. I was able to bounce ideas off of more people then just myself and thus created a much better product. People are your greatest tool to growing your craft.
Present time, with more experience in my belt and more knowledge of my craft, I am now in the process of writing again, re-inventing my name, sound and focus. I am so excited for what's ahead and want to allow myself to be more transparent then I ever have been in my writing and not put any creative bounds on myself. I'm excited to write and record music I would want to listen too.
You can check out a couple of songs she's bundled

Happy week, y'all!
