Friday the 13th, most people think its an unlucky day, but for me I think of it as a lucky day, why you may ask because I meet the love of my life.
A mutual friend of ours was planning to met Greg and a few other friends, the night of the 13th for some drinks and invited me at the last minute to join. He says it was a well laid plan for us to met, without us knowing it was a set up. Well he succeed the moment we met we forgot about everyone else and couldn't stop talking. One of the first things Greg told me was he is Navy and was going to be deployed for 9 months in a few months. But the more we kept talking the more we realized how much we had in common. We spent the rest of the weekend spending time together with friends and family. A week and a half later Greg asked me to be his girlfriend. We knew we had something special, so we decided to face the deployment together and if we are meant to be we would come out of it stronger.
Against all odds we survived the deployment and came out stronger. After almost 4 years together, being posted across Canada, buying our first home together, two crazy dogs, Greg proposed this Christmas morning and I said yes. Well speechlessly nodded yes.
We are still in the planning process but we do know it will either be a destination wedding or in Victoria BC (where we met). Since we have family here in Ontario and my family is all in BC.
Quirky facts
1. The first night we met, we had more than a few people ask us how long we've been married for, or how long we've been together. They were all shocked when we said we just met and have only known each other a few hours.
2. Greg asked me to be his girlfriend before we had even gone on a first date. Even then we didn't go on our first real date till almost a month later. We spent that time doing dates with friends.
3. Greg and I have so many mutual friends in common, we are shocked that we hadn't met years earlier. I had known Greg's best friend and his wife for a few years. And when Greg was telling them about me they told him they already knew me.
